The prominent Grygla-Goodridge International 500 snowmobile race is the next stop on the USXC schedule for the 2020 season. The “500” is the premier race of the season and has been since the “Winnipeg to St.Paul I-500” started in 1966. The new 2-day format started last season making it an even more challenging race than before.

In past years the race was spread out over 4 days. With the race now being 250 miles each day, it challenges riders to not only build endurance but prepare a machine that will hold up going 110% percent for 500 miles with minimal work.

At this event, the Junior 10-13 racers will be able to compete but will only do 1 lap on Saturday only. The Junior 14-17 racers will do 1 lap as well but compete on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a manifold fuel stop with volunteers to hand the gas hose to the racers. If the racer needs them to help fuel the volunteer can help, especially the Junior riders. These fuel stops are all sponsored by Cenex. Racers must have their machine full of fuel at the start of each day with their own fuel. 91 octane will be available in TRF and Grygla Cenex stations (87 octane fuel/diesel only in Goodridge). Oil can be added right after fuel stop in designated area. One crew member can help. Repairs can be made with one crew member also in this area. It will be “on the clock”. Online registration for this event will be open until Thursday night with registration also being held on Friday night in Goodridge. The race will be broadcasted again this year on 94.1 “The Falls”, so tune in for live track side coverage.

Last year at the Goodridge-Grygla I-500, Zach Herfindahl took the win on his Arctic Cat after a long 2 days of riding full speed. Zach is currently sitting 5th in the 2020 season points after having a couple unlucky weekends. Aaron Christensen finished 2nd last year at the 500. Aaron is coming straight off a Soo I-500 win from last weekend along with Gabe and Taylor Bunke. Christensen is the current points leader for this season. Taylor Bunke was the 3rd place finisher at the 500 last year and is currently sitting 7th in points. Another top runner who has been showing some speed in his rookie Pro season is Dan Revering. He finished 4th in the 500 last year as a Semi-Pro driver. He is also sitting 6th in points after being in the top 5 consistently. Wes Selby is sitting 2nd in points but did not finish last years 500 and Justin Tate is sitting 3rd and finished 7th at this event last season.

On Friday from 6:00-7:00 pm there will be an autograph session at the Goodridge Liquor Store. All are welcome to attend. Minors are welcome. USXC Racing encourages any and all racers to attend – Goodridge and the surrounding area is very excited for this event and eager to meet you all! Racing starts at 10 am both Saturday and Sunday.

Special thanks to the clubs – Goodridge Snowmobile Club and the Grygla/Fourtown Sportsman Club for all their hard work and dedication to keeping the race going and operating. USXC thanks them.
